Welcome WU Writers! :)

Welcome WU Writers!! For Spring Semester 2012, you will be required to write at least one blog a week.

Although this course focuses on developmental, critical, and analytical writing, this is your weekly opportunity to do some creative writing, and blogs are an excellent tool for such an assignment. As the creator and author of your blog, you have the freedom to upload pictures and videos to help add visual appeal to your thoughts and feelings about various topics. Be creative and have fun with your blogs, but keep in mind that your journal entries count for a percentage of your grade (see syllabus), and should be written in academic language for academic purposes. Some weeks, I will suggest topics for you, but most times, I will allow you to choose your own topics.

Blog entries should be between 250-350 words, so it is best that you compose your thoughts in Word or some other word processing software, and then paste it in your blog. Word gives you a word count on each document that you create, so you will know exactly how many words are in your journal. Your comments or responses to others’ blogs should consist of, at least, 15 to 20 words. Comments such as, “Great job!” or “I agree” are good, but they are too short. By commenting on others' blogs, you're engaging and interacting with one another, which enhances the whole blogging experience.

Not only is blogging fun, but it is a great way to polish computer skills and learn a new medium in which to communicate. With that said, let's start blogging and commenting.

Happy Journaling,

Mrs. Barker :)
